The 2018 Pole, Pedal, Paddle Video Recap
This Year was for the Birds
The Pole, Pedal, Paddle is delightful every year we do it, but this year was particularly savory for the team because, after years of failed attempts, team Rob Schneider’s #1 finally pulled off a victory in the costume contest. The theme for this year was the ever-general ‘birds’ theme, with previous year’s themes being similarly general, such as ‘orange,’ ‘pizza,’ and ‘wizards,’ to name a few. Plus, similar to form, we shared very little of our costumes with each other until the big reveal the night before the event, which can often affect creative unity. Clearly, things really came together this year with our ‘birds’ theme.
Looking back through previous PPP’s we’ve done, the big question is, would I say this year was our most successful costume ever? Not sure, but I don’t think so. Instead, I think it was a mixture of less competition from the other teams this year, as well as people recognizing us from years’ past and cheering us on simply through image recognition.
Whatever, the reason, though, we won. And alongside this victory, we also won our age group with overall time, so it was a good year for the Schneider’s. Instead of a play-by-play of the event, I made a short video that provides at least a snapshot of the race. Enjoy!
