March 2012 – Hiking around Pamelia Lake

Hiking around Pamelia Lake is a must if you’re from the Willamette Valley.  It is relatively easy hiking, but has incredible views of lakes and peaks in the area, all while hiking in a vibrant, stream-filled forest.

The hike into Pamelia Lake is less than three miles; perfect for hiking in, setting up camp, and then exploring the area.  Trish and I hiked in with our dog, Bryn, and then hiked various trails around the lake.  Unfortunately, we did the hike in during my Spring Break in March, and couldn’t complete the loops we were on due to heavy snow accumulation, but I’m sure we’ll be back at some point.  Here are the highlights:

The creek follows the trail almost the entire way to Pamelia Lake.

We got the trailhead in the afternoon, so although it’s a short hike into Pamelia Lake, we were ready for bed when we got there.

The next day we hiked around Pamelia Lake, and this was one of the many beautiful rock slides along the hike.

On the southeast side of the lake, there is a maze of little outlets making their way from the lake.
