I've got some big goals for 2023. Honestly, they scare me a little. But it's comforting to know that at least one of the variables in these big efforts - nutrition - is covered. Thanks @hammernutrition for fueling the efforts for another year.
Trish and I had the luxury of 'housesitting' in Bend this weekend which for us means enjoying the finer outdoorsy bits of Bend without the #noshower life of van camping. We could get used to this!
Some of you may not know that for the past two years, as a passion project for the bikepacking community, my friend @sethdubois and I put on a little underground bikepacking event called the Odyssey of the VOG. It's a 350 mile unsupported bikepacking race that weaves its way through the coast range on seldom used logging roads, starting and ending at a Grange just outside of Salem.
Happy New Years Eve IG friends! Trish and I decided to ring in the new year by driving 5+ hours to Bellingham so I could run a very wet and muddy trail Marathon. It was awesome. With a lot of big plans that revolve around running more than biking in the next few months, it felt good to get a little shakedown training in this winter to see if I can still get those speedy mile times post summer knee injuries.
Wow, Friendsgiving in White Salmon this year was an absolute joy. So many amazing people, so many hilarious dogs, and the winter wonderland theme that nature provided added to the already picturesque farm cabin ambiance. This is one of my favorite annual traditions of the year, for sure. Thanks @bman_kelley and @emsemerloo for being such amazing hosts all weekend!
